€6200 raised for Action Breast Cancer

A wonderful line up of Green Past Pupils entertained the capacity crowd in the assembly hall on Friday, 27th April for the first Evergreen Concert.

The varied programme featured piano, harp, flute, cello, harp and poetry, as well as ballet and singing (solo and choral) performances.

The M.C. for the night was Gemma Doorly, and those performing included Jenny Porter, Annemarie O’Farrell, Úna Crawford O’Brien, Ellen Fitzgerald, Katie Flanagan, Laura Mc Cabe, Máire Ní Chearbhaill, Helen Ni Chearbhaill and Verdi 53, directed by Caoimhe Ni Áinle.

Throughout the evening the performers were accompanied by Daniel Ford and Niamh Kenny.

We were very fortunate to have a wonderful team of students from the school on hand who between them, showed people to their seats, worked the lighting and sound systems, and sold raffle tickets at the interval. A great night was had by all!

All proceeds from the ticket sales and the raffle were sent to the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Cancer Programme. In all, €6200 was raised, a fantastic amount!

The GPPA would like to thank all those who made the event such a success – Caoimhe Ní Áinle (concert co-ordinator & director of Verdi 53), Tríona Barrett (School Principal), Mary Mc Ateer (Deputy Principal), The Board of Management, the artistes, the accompanists, 4th an 5th year students, all those who generously donated raffle prizes and of course, all those who attended or made a donation.
The huge success of the event ensures that this may well become an annual event for your calendar.
