The inaugural meeting of what has become the Green Past Pupils’ Association was held on 30th April 1983.  Approximately sixty past pupils were present and a committee of fourteen members, representing various age groups, was elected.  A particular impetus to the founding of the Association at this time was the fact that 1983 marked the 150th Anniversary of the founding of  The Green.

From its initiation, it was understood that The Green Association would be complimentary to and under the umbrella of the Loreto Past Pupils Union, a union of pupils from Loreto schools all over Ireland, north and south.

From a general discussion, the aims of the Association emerged.

The enthusiasm which marked the formation of the first Committee has continued, kept alive by the leadership of successive presidents –
